Your data
Privacy
This site sets no tracking cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from anyone else until you ask it to. This notice says exactly what it does, what happens when you press play, and who to write to.
Who this covers
This is the privacy notice for the Juice FM Cork website. Juice FM Cork is run by Cork College of Further Education and Training, in Douglas Street Campus, and the college is the data controller for anything the site collects.
What the site collects
Nothing that identifies you is collected as you read these pages. There is no analytics script, no advertising tag, no social media pixel and no cookie set for tracking.
The site stores two things in your browser, and neither identifies you. The first is set only after you tap Got it on the notice at the bottom of the page: a flag that remembers you have seen that notice, so it does not come back on every page. The second is set only when you press play: a note of whether the radio is playing, so it keeps playing as you move between pages. It is forgotten when you close the tab. Both stay in your browser, neither reaches us, and clearing your browsing data removes them.
When you press play
The audio stream is delivered by RCS, at stream.rcs.revma.com, not by this site. Pressing play connects your browser to that service, which will see your IP address the way any website you visit does. Nothing about you is sent to them by this site.
The track that is playing
The name of the track on air is read from the stream by a small service we run at Cloudflare. It reads the stream, not you. Your browser asks it what is playing and it answers with an artist and a title. That request happens on its own when a page loads, not only when you press play, and like any service you connect to, Cloudflare will see your IP address in the course of answering. Nothing else about you is sent, nothing is stored about you, and we keep no record of who asked.
The weekly schedule
The schedule page, the Listen page and each show page read the week, and the show pictures, from a second small service we run at Cloudflare. It works the same way as the track service and on the same terms: your browser asks for the week when the page loads, Cloudflare sees your IP address while answering, and nothing about you is sent or stored.
The video page
The Watch page shows whether the station is broadcasting on video and lists the videos it has published. Both of those, and every picture on that page, are read for you by the same small service we run at Cloudflare, so opening the page contacts nobody but this site and that service.
Pressing a video loads a YouTube player, and from that point YouTube sees your IP address and can set its own cookies, the way it does on any page that carries one. The player is the no-cookie version, which is the least YouTube offers, and it is never loaded until you press it.
The map on the contact page
The map picture on the contact page is part of this site, like any other image, so looking at it contacts nobody. Tapping it loads a Google map, and from that point Google sees your IP address and can set its own cookies, the way it does on any page that carries one. That is why it is a tap and not automatic.
If you get in touch
An email or a message you send is kept for as long as it takes to deal with it and to keep an ordinary record of the conversation. It is not used for anything else and it is not passed on.
Broadcasting complaints
A complaint about something broadcast on Juice FM Cork is handled under the station’s Code of Practice, which sets out what is kept and for how long.
Your rights
You can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and object to it being used. Contact Peter O’Neill, Course Director, Radio & Podcasting / Juice FM, at Cork College of FET, Douglas Street Campus, Sawmill Street, Cork City, T12 DW32, or email juicefm@corketb.ie. If you are not happy with the answer you can complain to the Data Protection Commission, the Irish supervisory authority, at dataprotection.ie.
